Anxiety eating is very common, especially among women. We come home after a hard day at work and all we want to do is sit on the couch and grab that bar of chocolate or that bag of chips to make up for the bad day we've had. Occasionally it is not a problem, but if this becomes a routine and we have that need daily, it can become one.

Often, these situations occur because we try to hide our emotions through food. We are stressed, we eat. We are sad, we eat. And many times we are not aware that we are eating for this reason. Therefore, it is important that we learn to listen to ourselves and identify if we have a real hunger or if it is an emotional hunger. The only thing we feel like doing is sitting on the couch and grabbing that bar of chocolate or that bag of chips to make up for the bad day we have had. had. Occasionally, it is not a problem, but if this becomes a routine and we have that need every day, it can become one.

Here are some differences between real hunger and emotional hunger:

REAL HUNGER:

It appears little by little
You are open to different food options
You don't feel the need to satisfy her immediately
Stop eating when you are full
You feel good when you finish eating

EMOTIONAL HUNGER:

appears suddenly
you have cravings
You have to satisfy her immediately
You continue eating, even if you are full
You feel guilty after eating

There are different strategies that can help us relax and deal with the emotions we feel. It is important that each person find their own, the one that they feel most comfortable with and that really works for them. There are treatments that will entail an economic cost and others that we can do in our daily lives and that can be very useful. These are some examples of therapies we could do to reduce anxiety:

- Bach flowers

– Aromatherapy, using different essential oils

– Acupuncture

– Reiki

– Yoga

– Massages

If we do not want or can opt for any of these therapies, we can always use other “more home” remedies, but also very useful.

- Go for a walk

- Exercise

- To do stretches

– Take deep breaths

– Read, watch series, listen to music

- Crafts
