Diuretics are products that can be of natural or artificial origin and that help us increase the activity of the kidneys and, consequently, the production of urine. Thus, we manage to expel a greater amount of toxins and fluid from our body and improve some of the discomforts inherent to fluid retention.

DIURETICS: ELIMINATE FLUIDS, NOT FAT

Many people start taking diuretics with the goal of losing weight. These allow us to eliminate more fluids and that can make us think that we will lose weight. However, these products do not help you lose fat, only to lose volume thanks to reducing fluid accumulation. Therefore, diuretics should not be used as a weight loss tool.

Furthermore, an abuse of these products can affect our health, since excessive elimination of fluids from our body can lead to dehydration, cramps, pain and muscle wasting.

WHEN IS IT INDICATED TO TAKE NATURAL DIURETICS?

In case of edema or fluid retention
For the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections
For the prevention of kidney stones
Mild hypertension
Circulation problems
Cellulitis

WHEN IS TAKING THEM CONTRAINDICATED?

Prolonged use or abuse of any diuretic without medical supervision
To lose weight in the long term
Severe hypertension
Severe heart or kidney disease
Pregnancy and lactation
People taking medications

TYPES OF DIURETICS

There are two types of diuretics:

Chemicals. Chemicals are those that have been produced in a laboratory and are normally prescribed by a doctor with the aim of improving a pathology. The list of contraindications for these is much longer than that of natural diuretics. These include: headaches, dehydration, dizziness, mineral imbalance, etc.
Natural. They are those that are obtained through food or plants. We can consume them in their natural format or in capsules that contain extracts of diuretic plants. They are a safer method than chemicals. For this reason, if you decide to take them it would be the option to bet on.

HOW TO INTRODUCE NATURAL DIURETICS INTO OUR DIET?

1. Introduce diuretic foods into your meals: pineapple, papaya, cucumber, asparagus, artichokes, etc.
2. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, about 2 liters a day.
3. Incorporate infusions into your diet. The most diuretic medicinal plants are: dandelion, horsetail, birch, nettle, etc.
4. Move.

NATURAL DIURETIC PRODUCTS

In addition to incorporating the habits already explained, there are also natural products on the market that can help us with fluid retention. These are 5 that we can find in herbal stores or pharmacies:

Perfect Line Drain by Pinisan. Food supplement that helps the body eliminate liquids. It is composed of medicinal plants such as horsetail, fennel, birch, among others. To take it you will only have to dilute 15 ml of the product in 1.5 liters of water and drink throughout the day.
Pinisan Complex Drainage. It is a natural supplement that is composed of purifying plants used to increase fluid elimination. Its composition is based on: red tea (thermogenic and purifying action), sarsaparilla (eliminates toxins), goldenrod (effective diuretic), artichoke (regulates liver function by helping fat metabolism) and pineapple (diuretic action).
R-3 Diuretic from Robis. Very useful diuretic product to reduce fluid retention. Unlike the previous two, this product is in tablet format, having to take 4 to 6 a day.
Cofidrén from Soria Natural. This product combines green coffee with medicinal plant extract with the aim of increasing kidney function and, therefore, urine production. To take it you have to add 1 vial to a liter of water and take it throughout the day.
Slimina Drasanvi Drain. Natural supplement that helps eliminate toxic substances and excess liquids from our body. In addition to containing diuretic plants, it contains L-Carnitine that acts as a fat burner. In this case, a dose will be taken on an empty stomach.
